Nipple Shells?

Hi ladies
I have a 5 weeks old, we have used a nipple shield since birth due to flat/short nipples. I keep trying to nurse without the shield and he won't latch on, because he has nothing to latch on to. If I have to use the shield forever I will but I'm wondering if nipple shells will help us be able to nurse without the shield. Anyone have experience with shells, did it work, what brand/type did you use?

I used one with my son. I had inverted nipples. I used it until he was 3 months. I don't think I will need it this pregnancy.

The shield saved our breastfeeding journey!! I too have flat nipples, but using the shield, it really helped get them into gear. We were done using the shield around 2.5 months. Keep offering it! My daughter preferred a football hold without the shield so maybe consider the position baby is in too. Good luck!

I tried using the shield and it did not work well for my daughter and I. she had to suck extra hard to get ny milk and it would slip off my nipple. eventually I couldn't keep up with her demand and the nipple shield wasn't working so we put her on formula. we tried every kind target had.

I have an inverted nipple and had to use one till four months. We tried every few weeks without it till she finally got it.

I had the same problem. I would pump a little to draw my nipple out enough for my little one to latch. No here we are two months later and she latches with no problem. Maybe try that and hopefully your nipples will begin to stick out enough on their own. Good luck momma
