Why is pregnancy a bad thing?

I went to a psychiatrist a few weeks ago and we started talking about birth control and I said I wasn't using BC or condoms and she kind of got onto me and said I need to get one BC. Being only 20 I didn't think anything of it because I'm used to getting yelled at for having sex from being a teenager. But later that day I started thinking and started ranting to my boyfriend that I am an adult and I shouldn't be getting yelled at anymore.

Maybe your psychiatrist is coming from a mental health point of view regarding having a kid. Maybe due to your treatment they feel it would stop progress and or set you back. 
A kid is hard. Mentally, emotionally, Financially...
My cousin has bipolar depression schizophrenia, her Pych. told her not to have kids due to her mental health being at risk.

If you are not in a stable relationship, don’t have the funds, don’t have your own place, don’t have a job etc then Pregnancy is a really bad idea. I’m not assuming that is your situation at all because I don’t know your situation. But I know when I was 20 I was still in college and honestly getting pregnant at that point would’ve just not been good. If you and your bf want a child and can properly afford one and take care of one then that’s your choice.

Getting pregnant is not a bad thing. I think people like to know that you are ready for it. Most people tend to feel that 20 is young to start having kids. If you are in a stable relationship, have the means and want to then it's fine (that applies to all ages). If you don't want to be encouraged to be on birth control I would suggest telling people that you and your BF have agreed not to be on birth control and will happily welcome a baby to your family when that time comes. Otherwise I think people worry that if you are not on birth control that you are being careless but saying you guys have discussed the topic should help.

You should definitely be on some sort of birth control, you’re only 20. If you had a kid right now who would watch it? Can your  steady job afford you daycare? Is your boyfriend also in a steady job? The price of kids is INSANE. It is not something to take lightly. And even at 20, you are still a kid, since it seems you don’t realize all the consequences and responsibilities that would come with a kid. I’m not tying to be mean, just please educate yourself on this one!!
