Does it really matter that much if I take my Synthroid with my prenatal when I eat?

The doctor said to take it on an empty stomach and not at the same time as any vitamins that contain calcium. Is that really necessary?

Yes. If taken with food it hinders how the medication is absorbed. Making it not as effective. I personally take it when I first wake in the morning. Then go do my morning routine, teeth, pee, etc by then it has been 30 min and I eat. Plus prenatal contain iron, you can't take synthesis w/in 4 hours of iron medication. So you should switch your prenatal to night time just before bed.

Yes, it has to be taken on an empty stomach so your body can absorb it better and wait 40-60 min before eating, and at least 4 hrs to take iron supplements. I take mine at 6 am and the prenatals with my food.

yes, I take my thyroid meds in the morning with water an hour before I eat. I take my prenatal/iron pills in the evening with dinner.

I was getting annoyed doing that because I like to wake up get ready for work eat and go. so I take it with food. my friend also does that and we are fine. It does slow or hinder absorption but the key is to take it the same way every day. then when you get your level checked and dose adjusted it will be consistent. I only need a small dose but my friend is on a high dose. not trying to give out bad advice but that's just what I do ☺
