my husbands ex died...

okay ladies so my husband was in a very serious relationship obviously before me and he was so into her he got a tattoo of her name (which is now covered up) things ended badly between them at the end she cheated, gave him std, etc.. we have 4 years together now and a baby. Yesterday she died someone shot her. Would you go with your husband to the funeral or should I not get involved? He says he isn't affected because they dated but because the way she died is so sad. I know he's hurting and I want to be supportive but I don't know if it's rude of me to go with him even if it is to be there for him. what would you do?
