Sex education as in video of birth, std video, pregnancy video, teenage parents talking to them. The live dolls should be used to demostrate babies crying and needing changed and feed,

It should start in kindergarten with age appropriate lessons and continue all through high school. Of course parents should be talking to their children from the moment they start asking questions, but we know that rarely happens.

Yes!!!! My mom’s a health teacher, so I just grew up think everyone had a solid sexual/health education, but little did I know I was very much privileged and isn’t it sad to be privileged to have something that should be the most important thing hormonal  teenagers should be learning about aside from general education!!? It just continually blows my mind and infuriates me tbh. Like everyone deserves to learn about this stuff because it’s just so so important! And by teenage parents talking to them, do you mean like other classmates or something?

I think parents should start sex ed with their toddlers. Teaching correct words for genitals, explaining differences between male and female bodies, telling the truth about where babies come from when children ask, not being afraid to talk about sex, talking about menstruation with young children, being okay with being naked around the house, etc. Then it won’t be so taboo when it starts being discussed in school around 4th or 5th grade.

My daughter was shown this stuff in 8th grade .  She had a classmate that was 7 months pregnant at time.  I think nowadays it needs to be taught in 6th grade

This was about the same as my sex Ed experience as well. We also had a “tea” in fourth grade for girls to talk about periods and puberty, and then the separated classes in 5th grade and then an upgraded version in 7th and 9th. I thought it was appropriate. I don’t think my school had that many teenage pregnancies, though I know there were some.

My mom taught me about my body changing at 5 because that’s when kids start to recognize their bodies are different from others. She then continued that education with my sister and I️ until present day when I️ was pregnant, in addition to anything we learned at school.  I’m intending on doing that with both my sons as well.

I think sex ed is extremely important, and I think it should start early and be ongoing with age-appropriate material. You can't count on parents to cover it and it's frankly a public health issue. Research shows that comprehensive sex ed is linked to lower rates of teen pregnancy, and I'm sure STDs as well. I got sex ed for the first time in 5th grade, where they split up the boys and girls and talked about puberty. Then in 7th grade we got more about sex, pregnancy, and STDs. Again in 9th grade, with a particular focus on safer sex. I think it was appropriate and gave me a good understanding of the risks. I never saw a birth video though, and I'm not sure how I feel about showing those to kids. Maybe the older ones.

When I was in high school we were shown slides of stds. That was the best thing that happened to me due to my sexual health. I was glad to know risks and didn't experiment with sex like other girls my age. We had girls get stds and had I not been given this information I would never had known because my mom sure didn't tell me. Also we were shown a video of a lady giving birth. That changed the way I looked at sex. I knew I wasn't ready for any of that.
