How late was your period before your test showed positive?

I'm late but still showing negative. Just want to know some of your experiences.

With my first son born 10yrs ago, I did a test as I was about a week  late for my period. It tested negative so I went away on a work conference and even called my doctor to check if it’s  possible to be pregnant if pregnancy test said I wasn’t. I redid the test about a week later and I was positive.
