Reasons for taking a break in a relationship?

Why would a guy want to take a break after saying he thinks the girl is the right girl, and doesn't want her to be the one that gets away?

He found someone that catches his attention more than you do at the moment. Don't give him the satisfaction of making sure he's done sleeping with everyone else out there just to come back to you. I would consider a "break" to be disrespectful and a slap in the face.

I would think that he found someone else and wants to see if it might go somewhere or thinks another girl is attractive and wants to hook up.

I personally don't feel like a break is ever an option. I feel that if your in a serious relationship or married that you work things out together, NOT with other ppl. Taking a break is an excuse to see what else is out there. And if your needing to see what else is out there, the person your with isn't the one for you bc you wouldn't need to look further. Just my opinion.

I had this happen w/ an ex I'd thought I was going to marry. After 2 years he started to pull away and need space for no reason that I could think of except that I had suspicions about how he felt about a female friend that had been around since b4 we got together. He denied it, repetitively, and for 6 months I thought I was going nuts but then I finally broke down and read his fb msgs and found a msg he wrote to a friend saying how he's in this love triangle and how I was the type of girl who always puts him first and would be an amazing wife and mother BUT how he had this crazy connection with that other girl. Anyways we broke up. He hooked up with that girl and I moved away to go to grad school, something I hadn't planned on doing bc I was eager to get married and start a family. Now, several years later, I'm happily married to a much better man and he and that girl broke up and he's still alone. Everything happens for a reason, if he's not ready to be committed, let him go. There's no point in fighting to keep someone, it will only make you feel insecure. Use this as an excuse to better yourself and do the things that maybe you put off. I'm happy I did.

Sending you a big hug bc I know how surreal and painful letting go can be but you'll get through it and find someone who wants to fight to keep you.

My opinion is that he may be scared. There are always signs of another woman, and if you're not seeing any of those signs then it probably is nerves. Every female my husband had been with until me has cheated, lied, stolen and ect. So when it came to me things where a lot harder because in his eyes if it's too good to be true then normally there is something wrong. We have kinda gone through the same thing except neither of us have ever said we wanted or needed a break. Communication is a great thing and if he really feels you're the one he'll talk be truthful and honest. Just tell him how you feel and remember to use "I" statements instead of "You" good luck!

If you've been together for a long time and the excitement has worn off he may not be mature enough or have the experience to realize it's a natural progression and is having doubts despite loving you. This is my experience but there probably a host of other reasons.
