My boyfriend and I have been dating for 8 months and I love him a lot. We were friends for a few months before we started dating and when things got more physical, he told me he is HIV positive. That didn’t matter to me because I had a lot of feelings for him and we click so well. We’ve used condoms of course. And he’s taking his medication so he’s undetectable at the moment. I’ve been considering taking PrEP and was wondering if anyone here had any experience with it. I take a pill everyday for my birth control anyway so it wouldn’t be difficult for me. He wants me to take it but he’s still doesn’t want to forego the condoms even with the PrEP. He is terrified of giving it to me. We don’t have sex that often because he’s so anxious about it. He struggles with it a lot and would never forgive himself if I tested positive. I sort of feel like if I did, then it’s just a journey we would take together. I obviously don’t WANT HIV, but I won’t feel like my life is over if I get it. I want to take precautions, but I don’t want to use condoms forever. They sometimes make sex uncomfortable. Any help or experiences would be great. And please no comments about finding someone without HIV. They deserve love too.
