Yes it hurts. Have to take it slow. I've waited about 4 weeks with all 3 pregnancies. 

Depends so much on how the birth goes! If you have stitches or episiotomy etc recovery takes longer than if not. I've had three kids and needed 4-8 weeks off after each. The time I had stitches I was terrified and it was a little painful the first time. The others with no stitches much faster and easier. ;)
