My relationship is hidden

I(18)have been dating my bf(21)for 6 months now and we have been "official" for 3 and I have met his parents, but I've only been introduced as a friend. We have a very intimate and close bond and I've asked him about this, to which he replied with an explanation that his parents are very strict in a way and don't want him to close off all his options or become too committed to a girl while stil studying. I understand where he is coming from, as my parents are also a tad strict, but i can't help but feel a little hurt. My background might not fit into his parents' view of a perfect gf (I have two mothers, I'm a bit more liberal etc, where they are very Christian), but I am still a good person, studious and mentally stable. Should I just get over it or are some of my feelings valid?
