Engaged at 19?

My boyfriend and I have been officially dating for 2 years but the two years prior, we’ve been off and on. I’m very close with his family and right now, him and I are going through a rough patch. But being so close with his family, they have informed me that he still plans on proposing this coming December. Do you guys think 19 is too young of an age to get engaged? He’ll be 20 in may and I just turned 19 earlier this month. Another thing is that, the fact that he’s in the army, he lives farther away and he was planning on proposing when him and I went to visit his family this Christmas, but I feel that it’s important to have my family there to witness it as all. What’re y’alls thoughts?

getting engaged doesn't need to be witnessed by anyone so no I don't think families need to be involved in that. if you are asking for approval of other people you won't get it and furthermore if ur questioning it then the answer is yes, you are too young. marriage is hard and it's a constant choice to be faithful and to stand by your commitment. and yes I know what I'm talking about, I got married at 16 and my husband was 18. we have been married for seven years but it's not easy. if you think you are ready then be ready to stand by it cause it's gonna be the hardest (best) journey of your life.

If you love him then the age doesn’t matter I don’t think. I’m 19 and I’m just waiting for mine to pop the question fingers crossed he doesn’t keep me waiting forever ! But if you see a future with him and you are 100% it’s what you want then to hell with what anyone thinks about your age! All relationships go through rough patches even when you’re engaged you’re  likely to still experience them so if it’s something you can over come then I don’t think you should let it get in your way.

19 is not to young at all. If you love someone with all you have, it's worth it. I got married at 17! Marrying young doesnt take away anything, you now get to do all the things you love with the person you love.

I just got engaged almost a month ago, I’m 20 and I’ll turn 21 in 6 days. He will turn 24 in June. January 2nd will be our 2 year anniversary. We hit a VERY rough patch on October 13th.... October 28 he proposed to me, I said yes of course. Why? Because just because we’re engaged doesn’t mean we’re getting married ASAP. It’s ok to have rough patches, it’s ok to fight, and get engaged and married at “young ages”. A rough patch is a test in a relationship. 
Don’t let ANYBODY tell you that you’re too young. You’re old enough to join the military and die for our country, then you’re old enough to get married.

Not a good idea. I personally think you’re too young, and you already said your relationship is rocky. Just because you like his family should NOT factor in wanting to get engaged. I dated an amazing guy for 4 1/2yrs at your age, then a not so great guy for 5yrs then finally found the one I wanted to be with forever. There is no timeline. Don’t waste your youth tied to the wrong person. There will be more guys that are probably suited better that you won’t question strangers on the internet whether it’s a good idea or not.

I think it’s weird that he’s considering to propose during a rough patch 🤔 I don’t know... I personally think getting engaged at 19 is too young. I did and it was a big mistake that ended terribly. So I can tell you from experience that it might not end very well (especially since your relationship has been off and on to start with). My relationship with my boyfriend wasn’t off and on, but it was definitely rocky and now that I’m older I realize that he just proposed as a way to secure the relationship and keep me from walking away. Trust me, that never works. Getting engaged doesn’t fix a relationship, just like having a baby doesn’t fix a marriage.
