what does baby dropped really mean?

So I'm 38 weeks and Dr said baby has dropped and is head down I should take it easy until my schedule c section which is next Friday  Dec 1st. So what exactly does it mean when baby is dropped does this mean I could go into labor at anytime?should i be worried?

As far as I know, all that means is your baby is in position and ready to be delivered. A baby should drop lower and hang lower in your belly and be head down so labor is safer and easier. Your doctor wants you to take it easy because you are preparing for labor. Your sweet little baby will be here soon! Congratulations!!

So usually when a doctor says a baby “dropped” they mean one of two things. Either baby has moved to a 0 or + station, or that baby’s head has become engaged in the pelvis. Which, for someone who is delivering vaginally, is great news. That means that baby is in the correct position for a vaginal delivery and will begin placing more pressure on the cervix to help it dilate. As a c section mom, you don’t need to dilate (and depending on the reason for the c section, don’t want to), so he wants you to rest and not let gravity do what it will naturally do (dilate and stimulate contractions).
