GBS? any one else?

they called me and told me I had gbs (group b strep)  I have antibiotics to take and then I get an iv when I go into labor.  anyone else have it or can shine some light on it for me?

I️ had it. If you get an epidural, you will be hooked up to an IV anyway, so receiving antibiotics every 4-6 hours is not a big deal. However, I️ highly suggest giving baby probiotic supplements to balance out the antibiotics. I️ didn’t do this with my breastfed, healthy baby and she developed mild infant eczema (there’s a lot of theories that say gut bacteria plays a role in this).

I was negative with my first and positive with my second. But since I was a c-section they weren't worried. I think they may have still given me an antibiotic but now I don't remember. My doc told me it was nothing to worry about.

if im not mistaken its just a bacteria we all naturally carry on our skin and it only comes out positive if it starts to colonize and when the baby is born it can get on him/her after that im a little fuzzy about it i just got out of the hospital and they tested me for it but thought baby was going to come before my cultures came back so they just admistered a couple doses of penicillin just as a precaution
