How long after stopping birth control...

How long after stopping birth control did it take for your period to come back? I’ve been off and on birth control for many years. I just got off the pill, I was taking it for about 4 or 5 months and now my period is 5 days late. I took a test yesterday and it was negative.

Just looking for some advice from anyone that this has happened to before! I have an OBGYN appt on Wednesday anyways :-)
