Breeched baby turns!
My husband got an exciting job opportunity several months before my baby was due, but the job involved moving out of state. We sold our house a few weeks before my due date & moved out to my inlaw's because we had a transition time before we could make the move. However, my inlaw's lived 1 1/2 hours from my Doctor, so I was scheduled to be induced a week early, to ensure a safe arrival and not a baby born in the car, as this was my 4th baby and we felt she could come fast. They checked my baby's position around 9pm the night before, in prep to induce me at midnight, and discovered she had flipped within the last week, making her breeched. So instead, I was scheduled for a version at 7am the next day.
They gave me an epidural, and then checked the position of the baby before the version was done, and everyone was amazed that my baby had flipped in the middle of the night, getting her right back in position! God had performed a miracle right before our eyes! I had many friends and family praying, so it was so cool to be able to go back & share this news with them.
The rest of the day my labor progressed at a good rate, but this labor was different than my other 3 because it was my first epidural. I was still only using 2/3 of the dose, but it was so much more enjoyable than my others, as the pain level went way down, allowing me to really enjoy good conversations with my husband, some tv shows and listening to our playlist of music. With having 3 other girls, this was a rare treat!
I wanted the epidural dose low because I wanted to feel where I was at, and was worried they wouldn't be ready when it came time for me to push, like my last one who came after only 3 hours from the time they started that induction. My husband does an amazing job encouraging me during labor, and helped me with the final hour where it got pretty painful, although the pain was still no where close to the pain I had experienced with my others. As I pushed her out (it took about 3-5 good pushes) at 4:18pm, the Dr had both my husband and I try to catch the baby together (along with the doctors and nurses), which is something we had never experienced before and was a very cool experience! She was a little sleepy, but was still very alert and was awake for about the first 30 minutes or so. She also latched on right away with breast feeding. My labor & delivery with my 4th daughter was just beautiful, even though it started out where they thought a C-section was needed due to her being breeched.
