Hypocoiled umbilical cord???? Help???

Cara

Hi!

I had an appt yesterday with ultrasound at 24 weeks, and discovered that my baby has a straight (hypocoiled) cord...

My doctor didn’t tell me much because she said she didn’t know much, and that she’s never had an ultrasound flagged for a straight cord. She said she had to do some research on it and she would give me a call or talk to me at the next appt... which is Dec 20th. So 4 weeks.

She said I may have to do more ultrasounds because what she does know is that since it’s straight, it would be easier to compress.

I obviously took to google and discovered that it’s like 3.7% of pregnancies rare... and that it brings a higher risk for things like cord accidents, meconium staining, distress, decrease heart rate, premature birth & still birth.

I’m trying not to freak out.. I just was hoping maybe someone had some insight and maybe had gone through it with a successful ending?!
