From a particular manufacturer, who has given a more detailed response than I could: http://divacup.com/how-it-works/your-first-questions/

I have used a Diva cup for over 10 years, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've heard that too. I have heard some of the other brands are great too. I like their website though. It lists pros.

I got a FemmyCycle and am never looking back. Softcup is great to test the menstrual cup waters.

Great! It has made such a difference in my life that I love sharing the info with other women. It's earth-friendly too.

I've heard they are cheaper in the long run, great for the environment, & can last for 10 years--some brands. There are many different brands and I've heard they take some practice to get right. Order the right size (if you haven't had kids &/or are under a certain age), and investigate all the different types and reviews. Some are more shallow, some deeper, etc. I've been thinking about trying it myself! One you can even have sex with! They have great reviews/comments on Jezebel.com. If you do a search, you can find a lot of personal reviews for different needs. One thing that impressed me is that you can leave it in for 7-10 hours I think, so you wouldn't have to change it as frequently as a tampon or pad! Also, pads and tampons are dyed to be white, and scents are chemically added which can be irritating & some people think they can be bad for you long term.

By the right size, I meant there are larger ones if you have had kids or are older. There are sizes for all though!!!
