Forcing Participating or lack of participation in holidays

ⒶⓁⓁⒾⓈⓄⓃ ★★★ • Never tell me the odds

So I’m curious on everyone views of forcing participation of holidays or lack of holidays on children. I know a family who doesn’t participate in any holidays and they force their children not to participate too. One of their children is 10 and you can tell they want to participate. You can see them look saddened when their peers talk about holiday plans and experiences. So what do you believe is right. Do you think it is okay for force a child to participate in a holiday they don’t want to participate in, or take away their right to participate? Do you view participating or lack of participating as a difference? If so why?

Bonus: do you participate in holidays or don’t participate?
