If you do go, deet is safe during pregnancy. You can basically bath in it to try and prevent a bite. Also LL bean makes a mosquito repelling shirt that is really effective. I’ve had good results using both together while camping earlier this year. I wasn’t trying to prevent Zika, I was just in a really mosquitoy area of Wisconsin and didn’t want to be eaten alive.

It is a concern. born to say you couldn't go safely and be fine, but they do have issues there with Zika so if you get bit you are at risk. Only you can determine if it is worth it. Maybe consider other destinations and see if there is one that you would enjoy as much with out the risk factor. If you are heading to a resort and stay there the entire time you shouldn't have an issue because most of them do an amazing job of keeping mosquitoes away. Enjoy, wherever you end up! :-)

I would talk to your doctor. We took a cruise to Mexico during my 3rd mo. Our doctor recommended that we didn't get off the ship and had to use bug spray while we were in port

Check out the CDC website.  Mexico is a hot spot.  And remember it's not only you getting bitten that's an issue, the virus stays in men's systems for 6 months and so if your SO gets infected you're at risk for a long time after the trip.  Why not go to Hawaii or somewhere else where you don't have to worry about it?
