Teeth brushing?!

Question

My son is 17 months old. Still drinks from a bottle but also drinks from a straw. He hates supply cups I'm afraid. Still has a bottle at night. Trying to brush his teeth is a nightmare. Not because he doesn't want me to, but because he wants to do it himself with the brush. Should I just use a finger brush to start with? He will probably bite me lol but I'm not sure how to get his teeth brushed. He only has 7 teeth and he has 2 more coming in right now. How do i get him to brush his teeth?

You're the parent. You need to have control. It's not a choice. It will be done. You've waited so long af this point you haven't created the habit. So you're in the deficit. If you have another child, start getting in their mouth immediately! You should be brushing every morning and night whether they have teeth or not so when the time comes when it's actually needed it isn't so much of a struggle.

I put training toothpaste on my sons toothbrush and then let him chew on it then I brush them real quick, your supposed to be brushing them every night, at least.

My 18 month old hates brushing his teeth and won't even let me attempt, I bought him and electric toothbrush and let him walk around with it, so far he is liking it and will walk around with it in his mouth for 5-10 min. Good enough for me, better than him not letting me do anything

I brush my LOs gums & tongue after bath time, she’s 4 months old with no teeth but she loves I️t. It’s a good habit to get into and she doesn’t scream through I️t so I’ve made I️t apart of our bath night routine (every other night, once she has teeth we will brush every night before bed)

I think it would be easier to brush his teeth if he were already in the habit of getting them brushed every night. I’m sorry it’s a struggle, but I’m sure you know that it’s super important to brush his teeth especially after his night time bottle. Otherwise milk is sitting on his teeth all night long. 
My 20 month old son recently started throwing a fit about brushing his teeth at night. I tried several things: I let him “brush” my teeth with my toothbrush while I brushed his. And I found an Elmo tooth brushing song on YouTube that he really likes. We turn it on while we brush, and by the end of the song, we are done. He doesn’t throw a fit anymore.
There are several different approaches you can take. I did a lot of googling because I was so tired of the nightly struggle

I just wet a kids toothbrush and let my 18 mo old chew on it for a little while. I don’t try to brush her teeth. Just gets her in the habit. She had 16 teeth
