How do they do the gender ultrasound ?

My baby wasn’t positioned right for me to find out what I’m having & i wanna know why couldn’t they even attempt to make him move & how do they even make the baby position itself to show its Genital area

i think because its more about how the legs are positioned than the bodys general orientation. you might be able to get a baby to turn but getting it to uncross its legs is quite another thing. also the tech working the ultrasound is only trained to operate the machine, they are not a midwife or an OB. they probably dont know how. its likely they perform ultrasounds for a lot of other things not only obstetrics. the anatomy scan is also not actually about determining the sex. it is checking the babys development and checking for brain/spinal defects, heart problems etc. the sex of the baby is really not important at all from the medical perspective unless theres some gender-specific genetic defect they are worrying about. so i can see why they wouldnt spend the time to find it. if you go back for another appointment you can try drinking something cold and eating something carby or sweet to encourage the baby to kick (and maybe move its legs out of the way so you can get a look). but some babies just arent cooperative.

they couldn't be sure on ours either and we had and md not an ultrasound tech. baby just didnt want to cooperate down there. but it was very cool to see the other stuff. doctor  was just like well didnt see boy parts really but also couldn't see the three lines for a girl either. so he just said 'best guess" girl and let him know if he was right.

Unfortunately I don’t think that’s something that is crucial to the baby’s development. They don’t care if your baby is a boy or girl, just that it’s healthy and there are no complications.
I’m sorry that sucks ☹️
Is there a private ultrasound place near you? It can be a little pricey but maybe worth it. Some will guarantee gender determination or you can come back for free.
