What are some questions I should ask for a hospital tour?

The one thing I will find out is does the hospital allow VBAC's. Other than that I really don't know what I should be asking....

Ask when they will admit you. If you haven't progressed to a certain stage the will make you go home and labor. If they allow VBAC should be something you can already ask you Dr. See if you will labor and deliver in the same room or be moved. What will you need to expect after delivery. Time for recovery (if you have a c-sec). Options on not allowing bottle feeding or pacifiers if you choose to breast feed. Pain management,Visitor restrictions, If you will see a breast feeding nurse and when.

Do they do skin to skin? Can they delay the k shot and eye gunk for an hour while your baby breastfeeds? Will they ever take baby out of room? What will your support person expect? When will you get discharged? How often will someone check on you? Are you allowed to eat? Can you walk the halls during labor? What pain stuff is offered?

Is there an anesthesia doc or OB on site 24/7 in case something goes wrong or do they have to call someone in? If not, what is the response time?

Ask if they offer private recovery rooms.

I got lucky & was able to have my own room with two beds for my entire stay. My mother was able to stay with me overnight which was nice of the hospital to be so accommodating. (:

My hospital does everything in one room w/ exception of CS , they do skin to skin even after CS , they keep baby in room unless there's something wrong, doctor does VBAC hospital will on doctors orders.

Ask doctor about VBAC he's the one who would know not the hospital on tour
