Is my doctor wrong about teething?

My son is almost 5 months. The last few days hes been putting every thing he can find in his mouth and gnawing away, drooling like crazy, muchn fussier than usual and not sleeping through the night anymore. 
My pediatrician said he isn’t teething yet. Could he be wrong?

The average for teething is 6 months, so it’s a little early. Drooling is a digestive milestone. Chewing on things is how they discover their world. There could be a million reasons for a baby not sleeping. 
I have 3 children so I get it, i do. The only way to know if the dr is right or wrong is to wait and see.

I hate how women on here see them as 100% correct, 100% of the time. 
Yes, Hun. Your doctor can def be wrong. You should be able to see a bump tho. If there is no bump or redness, it's possible it's pre-teething. My kids all did the same thing but didn't cut teeth until more like 9 months. (My youngest was 11 months!) 
Remember, they learn and explore with their mouths at that age. Also, they do not know how to control their drool. 
So yes, all babies go through that stage. But no, you're doctor isn't always right. Just check it out for yourself!

Yes! At my son's 4 month appointment the Dr said "pre-teething" symptoms. Drool, everything in mouth, tugging at ears, etc. The NEXT MORNING my son had his first tooth. I think when babies get teeth is so unpredictable. I totally trust my pediatrician, but expecting him to know when my kid is getting his teeth is more like asking him to consult his crystal ball 😉

could be. my daughter already had 2 teeth at 5 1/2 months. but had the signs of teething, like what your describing, since 3 months. if he examined your baby and said no though, then I'd be likely to agree with him.

Dr can be wrong! But my daughter’s Dr didn’t wrong with her teething....my daughter had all teething symptom since she was 3 months old, I took her to Dr twice to check the teeth but both time Dr said not yet, I thought the Dr is wrong and my daughter will get her teeth in soon but no....she finally got her first teeth cut out 2 days before her first birthday...😅

My daughter’s been gnawing on everything since she was 2 months...she’s 6 months now & still no teeth. Her gums aren’t swollen & you can’t feel anything on her gums

My daughter had all the “classic signs of teething” starting at 3 months but her first tooth did pop up until 7.5 months. The only way to know for sure is when you can actually see it at the top of the gums.

Drs can be wrong. My LO has been teething since 3.5mo. My ped felt his gums at his 5mo appt and said she felt the tooth buds. They're coming! Babies start to teethe between 4-6mo and can teethe for several months before the teeth come in.

Babies will put things in their mouth as a way to learn through another sense, drool is helpful in digestion but it also has anti microbial properties to help the baby with all those things theyre putting in the mouth
