Selecting/Meeting a roommate?

I'm a senior in high school and I'm curious to know if colleges usually offer a way to meet your roommate to get to know them before the school year starts or a way to somehow pick a roommate(i.e. fill out a personality survey and they match the closet ones; chatgroups)?

Mine did. The housing portal asks you how you live. You also create a profile and then you shop for a roommate based on your likes and dislikes. The issue is that A LOT of people lie about being clean or easy going in their profiles. Case in point my ex roommate who said she was clean then never did laundry and always had a pile of dirty clothes in the middle of the room and dirty plates stacked on her desk.

Some colleges create a facebook group for students graduating college in 2022 for example. Many of my friends met their roommates through that facebook group. I filled out a survey and has a random roommate. She wasn't friendly and ended up moving out. My roommate that I have now is much better.
