separation anxiety?

does your baby have it? are you working? how long did it take to get over it? my son is 1 year and I have to get back to work in 8 days. he is super attached to me.... I left for 30ish minutes yesterday and my son freaked out the whole time =( I'm so nervous to leave him.

I work in a daycare and it is COMMON. It’s going to hurt you, yes, but be the parent that spends the time to get your child comfortable in the environment they’re going to be in. I teach 1 year to 2 years of age, and what we do is print and laminate a picture of child with parents/guardian and allow the child to hold it. We also continues to remind the child how they will come back and how they come back. If the child’s old enough we count down activities. Like “8 things till mommy gets here” and they get excited. It will take a few weeks for the child to get on a routine and schedule but make sure it’s consistent. Consistency is key!
