What time rule do you follow with formula?

I use the premixed liquid formula and I know on the box it says to discard after and hour but that seems a little ridiculous and like a scam to me. What time rule do you or have you followed with formula? do you go by 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours or more? I want to make sure I’m not giving my baby bad milk but I want to make sure I’m getting the best use and moneys worth of the formula

I absolutely go by 1 hour! Why on earth would you leave it out longer than that and still feed it to your child? It’s not a scam. They tell you one hour for a reason. And it’s not hard to just put the bottle in the fridge when baby’s done eating and come back to it later. They can be in the fridge up to 24 hours.

As soon as the bottle touches the baby’s mouth, you have ONE HOUR (refrigerated or room temperature - doesn’t matter, time limit is the same for both) before potentially harmful bacteria from his/her mouth starts to grow in and on the bottle and formula. After the one hour, you need to dump it, whether you want to or not. If you can’t afford it, switch to powder or see if you qualify for an assistance program. It is NOT a “scam”, they’re keeping you from giving your baby essentially spoiled food.

It’s not a scam. Your babies mouth has bacteria and once their mouth touches the bottle/milk, it’s only good for one hour. Not sure why you would even question something as serious as spoiled food for your baby.

I realize I’m going to get attacked by all the internet microbiologists on this app, but at this point  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 
I would always feed my son his fill, and if he had like an ounce left I would just toss it. If he barely drank and left like 6 oz, I would replace the nipple with a clean one and pop it in the fridge. I figured the mouth bacteria is multiplying from the nipple, which I just replaced, my son wasn’t spitting TONS back into his bottle. And the cold temperature of my fridge was slowing any further growth (same reason we don’t keep our milk and cheese at room temperature right?). I would then discard it after the next feeding if he still didn’t want it. He’s 19 months now and been off formula for a long time, but never had an upset tummy from this.

My doctor told me one hour. My baby actually refuses it around then even if I lose track of time, so I think it actually does go off that quickly. It's milk, after all--milk with backwash. It goes bad quick.

I go by the one hour rule. Is it possible to give your little one just a little at a time? Sometimes my son won't eat as much so I just make a couple ounces at a time. it's a pain but it helps with waste, I also use powder formula though so it may be different with liquid

It depends on where we are. If we are in a controlled environment like our house, I’ll go 2 hours. If we are out and about, it gets tossed after 1
