Experiences with Cervadil/Prostaglandin to start induction?

I'm currently 41 weeks and scheduled to go in Thursday 11/30 at 8pm to start induction with prostaglandin (not sure if it's the gel or insert). I'm not dilated at all but I am about 70% effaced. I am wanting to avoid pitocin if possible.. Just curious how effective this was for dilation if anyone is in a similar situation and if avoiding pitocin is a realistic expectation.

I had the hormone tablet inserted and it worked a treat hurt like hell but I had it inserted at 6.30 pm I was already 2 cm dilated by 2.20 am I was 5 cm dilated and taken down to delivery sweet and  by 3.16 am I was holding my surprisingly big 10 pound baby girl in my arms had no time for pain relief only gas and air was rapid! The pain was intense from around 9.pm onwards though I had no gaps in between contractions at all they didn’t even think I was in labour and my boyfriend went home at 1 am thinking I was only having cramps it wasn’t until 2 am when I begged for pain relief they realised I was in established labour! Inductions can take time I was lucky i really did not want to stay in hospital over night on my own and I never! Baby was born 3.16 am and I was out of hospital that same day st 2.30 pm so good going well worth the pain! I am the biggest baby in the world and was so scared about induction and labour in general so if I managed to push out a 10 pounder on just gas and air any one can trust! Good luck to you ❤️

I was induced using the foley bulb and Cytotec. I told the medical team that pitocin was a last minute option. 
The bulb took me from 1-4 cm in about two hours. I had 2 doses of Cytotec 5 hours apart. That took over 12 hours to dilate me completely this was after a membrane sweep as well. 
At one point my dilation stalled and tnjry were literally seconds away from giving my pitocin when my water finally broke and I went into active labor. In total I spent 24 hours in labor. The induction started Friday night at 11pm and baby was born Saturday at 11:14pm. 
The only thing I'd do differently is take medication to manage pain.

I had pitocin for my induction, went into the hospital at 7:30am and she was born at 1:39 🙈 I figured it would take quite a while but I was sure wrong!

41 and 1 today. Was induced yesterday with barely a 1cm and 50 effaced at 2:00. Got cervadil for 12 hours and then pitocin for another 6ish hours only to be barely a 1cm and 75% effaced with no contractions. But I did lose my mucus plug today. I got a bit of rest not on a monitor and then we start it all over again with another dose of cervadil and pitocin however this time baby is causing all sorts of consistent cramping equivalent to contractions so that is good I guess. My doc is breaking my water at 7am tomorrow. I will have a November baby lol!
