Maternity Clothes...Help?

So I went to Macy’s looking for Maternity wear. I don’t really have a noticeable bump yet but my pants are tight enough that it’s uncomfortable. Finding pants was easy enough but are maternity tops basically just extra long loose fabric shirts? Everything felt so thin and long and looked the same? Sizing wise do I size up? Do I choose my same pre pregnancy size? Where should I go for more options for work/not TShirts?

I get a lot online. I sometimes find I actually need to size down. Gap maternity is good, Jessica Simpson’s maternity line is good, pink blush is good and I get some stuff from amazon after vetting the reviews.

I would try motherhood for more dressy work type shirts. they also have a pillow belly belt you can use for a bump when you're trying them on!

They say you’re supposed to get the same size clothes, but I️ found I’ve had to size down almost everything and I’m 7 months pregnant now. 
Usually I️ wear large in women’s shirts/dresses and 10-12 in pants, but in pregnancy I’ve found I️ only need a medium and 6-8 pants. I️ think it’s because maternity wear actually accounts for large boobs and hips, something normal women’s wear doesn’t always do. So maybe take into consideration how clothes tend to fit you when you’re not pregnant.
