IUD? How’d it feel??

How does it feel to get the IUD implanted? Thinking about getting it done soon.

The measuring and insertion itself hurt but was tolerable. But about an hour after insertion I had the worst cramps ever. They lasted the rest of the day and part of the second day. That being said I would totally do it again because it’s so nice not having to worry about birth control :)

It hurts a lot. It’s like period cramps but 5x worse, but they stop in a few days.

I got mine a few weeks ago and it didn't hurt at all (the doctor numbed my cervix and I was on my period) but when I went to stand I was a little woozy for 10-15 mins. just rested for a few and was on my way. minimal cramping a few hours later but it wasn't the worst cramps I had ever had and they didn't last long.

so quick with minimal pain. i was like really? your done? did you even insert it?. that appointed lasted no more than 10 minutes. thats including the explaining and me changing.

3 “uncomfortable” feelings in the span of 60 seconds. It’s so quick. Go in during your period because your cervix is already slightly dilated, making it even less painful.
First, a quick pinch as they insert a device to stabilize the uterus. Next, a deep, crampy sort of pain when they measure the length of your uterus. Last, the same type of pain, but less intense, as they put the IUD in. 
Take a couple OTC painkillers about an hour before. You’ll be fine!

It didn’t hurt at all. You’ll have some cramping like a period for a few days but that’s it. My periods completely stopped too. Had 2 totaling 7 yrs. took it out and got pregnant 2 months later. I’m 28 wks now. I loved it and I’ll get it again after this baby too.

If you’ve had a kid, then it’s honestly not bad (especially if you’ve gone through labor)
If you’ve had a kid recently (like I got mine done 6 weeks after having my daughter) then it was nothing because I was still dilated a little bit.
If you’ve never been dilated before it’s going to be uncomfortable and will be a fair amount of pressure.
