Pregnancy and piercings!?

so I’ve recently decided that I wanted to get some ear piercings. But I came to find out that it’s not advised during pregnancy? This is really the first time I’ve heard anything like this. I never would’ve thought it could harm the baby? Tattoos, smoking drinking I could see why, but idk about piercings....
I’m 23 weeks pregnant with my second child.
What are your views and opinions...

Same reason you shouldn't get tattoos when you're pregnant.  The ink isn't the issue, risk of infection is.  Plus risk of infection is much higher with a piercing than a tattoo as well so if you look at it that way it's easy to see why you can't get pierced just as well as you can't be tattooed.

Infection. You have to sign a paper stating you aren't pregnant before piercings.
