Cream for sore and cracked nipples
My son is 8 weeks on Monday and EBF from day one. In the beginning cracked and sore nipples made me want to cry every time he got hungry, but my MIL made this natural cream for me and the day I started using it I didn’t have sore nor cracked nipples anymore.
Im not using it anymore because my nipples got super used to breastfeeding and I no longer needed it. But I wanted to share the recipe for all of you and maybe help someone who is struggling with breastfeeding as well:
You’ll need:
A pot,
Olive oil
Honey wax
Mastic gum
Something to put the cream on, example in picture bellow (not plastic)
Note: English isn’t my first language and I’m translating this from Turkish, which also isn’t my first language so excuse me if something isn’t clear, I added pictures for helping myself with explaining and the exact amounts aren’t specific because my MIL didn’t know them, so here it goes
1- in a pot heat 200 ml of olive oil.
2- when is hot (not boiling) turn off the fire and add around a handful of honey wax and three pieces of mastic gum.
3- mix it and let it cool down.
4- put it into a ceramic or glass bowl and let it cool completely. When it does it will be a very tough cream.
To use: apply in your nipple and areola generously, then put a pad for leaky breasts to not only stop it from staining your shirts but also help the cream stay warm in your nipples. Don’t worry if you get chunks of cream, the more you apply the better.
This was my life saver so I hope it helps some of you mommas as well!! Let me know if you try it and if it works for you as well.
Honey wax: you should put as much as those little pieces in the bottom
This is the mastic gum
This is what mine looks like
It is also a great cream for burns
