Baby Powder ????

Just had my baby shower and got soooo much stuff!! 😍 Tons of wipes and diapers and awesome stuff I knew I needed, and one person got me baby powder, and I thought nothing of it, but my step sister pulled me aside and told me to throw it away, it’s not healthy or safe for babies. What are your thoughts ???

We use baby powder for our feet when we goto the beach.. it makes the sand fall off easily.. So I keep it for that but don't use it on baby.

Certain brands of baby powder (cough- J&J;) have been sued for cervical cancer death.... and the people who sued won. Evidently J&J; knew about the cancer risk. 
I personally wouldn't use it. I've heard about people using corn starch instead on babies and I'm sure someone has come up with a "safe" version but honestly so long as you keep baby's nooks and crannies dried after a bath and changing there's no need for it anyhow.

Come starch powders are fine. There was an issue the powders that had talc in them but I think they all have changed their formulas so there isn’t talc anymore. I’ve never had to use powder for my girl, but I think the powders are believed to be safe now.

Return it and get a store credit.. we don’t use powder lotions or anything.. we got a ton of it.. I returned a lot of it..

If it has talcum in it, there have been studies that it causes cancer. 
Also, people make the mistake of putting it around baby’s neck and under arms to prevent rash but the power gets in and around their nose and can cause respiratory issues. 
Honestly just use it in your shoes to keep them smelling good, I never use it on myself or baby
