6 months...first big goal reached

Molly

I knew before my LO was even born I wanted to breastfeed at least 6 months. I read endlessly on every problem we could encounter in the early weeks. Had stuff on hand to boost supply just in case. Tried to have a good breast pump and easy transition bottle all ready to go.

Then I just was super lucky. My milk came in before I ever left the hospital, so no problem there. My 5 lb 14oz beauty, was back to birth weight in 5 days.

Engorement with an oversupply though was no joke. I had to stay on top of it for 2 weeks to avoid infection. I'd only pump or hand express enough to make life bearable.

Now 6 months in, I'd change nothing. I love watching my little girl eat or just want me for comfort. I'm able to pump a little over 20 oz a day to provide to a friend.

We will be starting solids soon (BLWing), but I plan to nurse on demand til a year.
