I used to get them a lot when I shaved against the hair. So I shave with the hair now and make sure I exfoliate a bit and keep it clean.

I stopped having this problem when I stopped shaving and started waxing. An ingrown hair will not just go away because a hair is stuck under your skin that continues to grow. If they are bad enough, going to a dermatologist to get them removed is the best idea. You can get a sterile needle at home and try to get under the hair to pop it out of the skin then pluck it but that can cause the infection to get worse so it's best to have a dermatologist take care of it for you.

Not sure how to make them go away but I know shaving with conditioner or better yet coconut oil prevents them, and you can avoid razor burn and you get a closer shave!
