Cheating while separated?

My husband and I have had the worst marriage I have ever heard of short of murder. I still love him and I have been trying very hard to make it work but he keeps messing up and treating me like crap. We separated 3 months ago but have been "trying" and it's mostly me trying. My ex has been messaging me wanting to spend time with me and my husband doesn't know- but doesn't care to spend time with me saying he needs space. So I feel like if I do go spend time with my ex I am cheating on my husband- everyone tells me to move on but I am heart broken and I don't want to regret anything but I just don't know what to do. What if it works out with my husband someday? I am so messed up I just need advice from someone not involved.

I would not spend time with your ex. You probably need time to yourself to figure out what you want to do. You don't want things to get messy and deal with a lot of drama. Good luck and I hope things get better!

Get a divorce.  Life's too short to be unhappy. And even though marriage takes work, it shouldn't take THAT much work where it's bogging you down and exhausting you.

Its not cheating u guys arent together. 
BUT you are still legally married. Being with someone else now will just further complicate things. If u are unhappy enough to want to be with someone else then close that door and get a divorce and be with whoever u want.
Just remember the grass us always greener on the other side. 
If u still love ur husband at all try counselling. Take a couples cruise together. Start dating (eachother) again. And after u have tried EVERYTHING to work it out, if u still need to leave you will have no what ifs or regrets.

Even legally it's not adultery since you are separated and not living together(?). However, to lead him on with thoughts of reconciliation while seeing someone else, would be wrong for everyone involved. So if you want to be with someone else, you should make it clear to him that you are moving on without him.

Tell your ex and your husband you need time to yourself. Maybe take a drive to somewhere out of town and just relax and clear your head. Chances are if your mad at your husband more than not I would seriously consider moving on with your life.

1. Your still married so regardless of the situation it's still cheating. 2. He's your ex for a reason. Divorce if neither of you are happy and you want to see other people. Take time for yourself and think about what you want and need in someone. Then find a new relationship. You won't experience any growth or reason if your cheating and seeing exes

While you are separated, do you think that if you reconciled with your husband, he would be ok with you having been with an ex? Would you be ok if it was the other way around? Use this time to work on things if you want them fixed, or end up them if you want them resolved. No one needs a man every single day of their life, so I am sure you can do without the ex right now.
