“Too young”?

Okay so I’m 15 and my mom tells me in Too young to wear makeup. All of my friends my age wear it and it’s kind of embarrassing not being able to. She says it will make me look like a whore even if I wear neutral eyeshadows and not bright makeup. She says it makes me look older and gives old me permission to look at me sexually. She thinks that since she doesnt wear it herself then I shouldn’t be allowed to. For a while she was letting me wear mascara only and I tried to talk to her about it and she got mad and took my mascara away too. When I lived with my grandparents I was allowed to wear makeup at 13 or 14. I honestly would like some advice. All of my family thinks it’s stupid but I just don’t know how to go about talking to her. It always turns into an argument.

Why is your mother sexualizing your face to old men? That's disgusting. Makeup is a form of expression. As long as you don't think that you NEED makeup to be pretty, you're fine in wearing it. Have you told her that you feel embarrassed and are getting bullied because you don't have the freedom to express yourself by wearing it?

I wouldn’t say it would make you look like a whore, but let me just say, all the girls in high school who didn’t wear  makeup have amazing skin so

Wear mascara and lip gloss girl lol you’re not going to the club lol

Hmmm. That seems a little much for her to not let you wear makeup at 15. I chose to not wear any sort of makeup until I got until high school. All I ever wore was eyeliner and mascara. To this day, that’s really all I wear (honestly too lazy to deal with putting much on everyday). It will not make you look like a whore. I think it’s probably your mom being afraid of you growing up “too fast” or something like that. Especially if you are her only daughter or child. She may also be afraid of you getting pregnant as a teen, though that can happen whether you wear makeup or not. I think you need to try and figure out what her true motive is. Or see if another one of your family members will sit down with you to talk to her about it.

I don’t think makeup necesserally needs to be really “out there”. It can be used to only bring out you features even more. Like, to enhance your eye shape, your lips, cheek bones etc. There’s a difference between normal makeup and as your mother says “whore” makeup. I’m sure you won’t be going out with something tacky on your face. You can use BB creams and a bit of highlighter to achieve a glowy nice look which is still minimum and I doubt your mother would notice it. You’d just look devier. And some mascara ofcourse. Just make sure your lashes don’t stick to each other, buy a quality mascara.
And I agree, your skin will look better in the future for sure but you know, you only have this one life do what you wanna. If you like doing makeup, fuck it, do your damn makeup

As a mother she should understand she don’t seem like she cares so much she seems like she cares more about negative things makeup is fun it’s girly talk to her more about it maybe she will come around 😊
