Large yolk sac, high hcg levels, but no fetal pole?

Lindsey

Bare with me please, this is a little long.. My husband and I had been TTC for 5 months and then got pregnant. My first day of my last period was October 15th and I found out I was pregnant on November 16th. So fast forward to yesterday I had my first Dr. appt and with their calculations, I should be about 7 weeks. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and saw a large yolk sac, but no fetal pole. So my dr tells me that she'll do a blood test to check my hcg levels and we'll check them again in two days. She calls me today and says my hcg levels were over 17,000 (I was overwhelmed and can't remember the exact number) and that those numbers are too high to have not seen anything.. I go back in on Monday to have another ultrasound done and I'm praying with everything I have that we see a baby. I started googling (stupid, I know) and found a bunch of women who have gone through similar situations and ended up carrying that baby full term.. I guess I'm just looking for advice on how to handle this and words of encouragement.. I should also mention that I've miscarried before, about 5 years ago.. so I know what it's like, but it doesn't make it easier. 😩😩
