Double stroller necessary for babies 18 months apart??

Question

I’m a third time Mom, my third is due late June. I have a 4 year old and an 11 month old. She’s doing so well, I imagine she will be walking by her birthday next month. And for sure she will be walking by the time her little brother arrives. Will I be needing a double stroller? The 4 year old rarely rides in a stroller, he’s so active and loves running/walking. Sometimes he doesn’t listen very well but most times he’s well-behaved. I need to be able to have one hand free to grab him just in case. 
I’m just so afraid. All I can envision is carrying my daughter and a small infant around while trying to chase after my 4 year old! (For the times he decides he wants to be difficult, lol) 😟 
I will definitely baby wear the youngest, but it’s so hard on my back and I don’t want to baby wear for an eternity or every time we go out. 
For moms who also have babies 18 months apart, do you think a double stroller is absolutely necessary? I’d also appreciate any other products you highly recommend for having 3 under 4. Also, I’m really trying to streamline things and only get what we need. We buy most things used/second hand. Our baby fund was pretty much depleted by our daughter so we’re definitely going to be scraping by with our third. I’ve saved a lot of baby things from my two others. Thanks in advance!

there are doubles that have a paddle bord attachment for your 4yr old, I got one for my last 2 because I didn't have any time for a sling again😒 best decision ever I love my double but can't use it to take the bus. luckily my kids never run to far away from me while we are out and about.

You could do a city Select with a ride on board for your 4 year old! We have city Select and that’s what we plan to do in the future! 😃

Yes. When they get to age 2.5 or so, tantrums will start, they may resist holding hands etc. It's very hard to manage a stroller plus and uncooperative toddler. I think they're worth it.

My daughter will be 22 months when my twins are born. I bought the joovy caboose triple off Facebook for $100 (would have been over $500 retail). It is a double with a bench in the back for the older child to sit, stand or add an optional seat for them. I think just for sanity and the possibility of your older child being tired/not wanting to walk etc a double is a good option.

We only have 2 kids 16 months apart and I debated getting a double stroller but glad I didn't waste the money. With 3 kids though you may want to invest.

If your 11 month old turns out to be anything like my toddler you’ll want them in a stroller mines a runner. You could get away with baby wearing the newest single stroller for middle and the 4 year old walking. Or even a wagon for the 2 oldest and baby wearing the littlest until they’re big enough to sit on their own. It doesn’t have to be a fancy wagon either it can be the $50 they sell at academy my son loves going for rides in it then it gives everyone the option to ride or walk.

It will probably make your life 1000x easier if you do. Check out some second hand stores like once upon a child or garage sales for a double stroller and just clean it really well before you use it to save some money.
