What Do You Consider Cycle Day 1?

Endocrinologist instructed me to take Clomid on the 3rd day of my cycle. I started spotting yesterday after sex, and I am unsure if I should consider that the 1st CD? I don't need a pad yet, and this is my 1st assisted cycle so I am new to this. Help- please 😦

I usually count the first day when there is red blood flow. Usually I have a day or two of some reddish brown blood when I wipe after going to the bathroom. I just count that as spotting. CD 1 is when there is bright red blood in the toilet/on the toilet paper (... not necessarily in a pad because that's always how it starts for me).

If I start spotting at night I usually count the next day as cycle day 1 but if I start spotting during the morning or day then I count that as day 1.
