"Mandatory" 2nd C-section
Had an appointment with my doc this past week. Was told that since I had a previous c-section (due to delayed/stalled labor) it was their practice policy to do another c-section because there is a 1% chance of uterine rupture and possible death of my baby or myself. 1%. This is something that I cannot wrap my head around. I am devastated. The first time around, it didn't hit me until afterwards that I felt like I had had the experience of vaginal birth taken from me. The doctors at the hospital were very uninformative about what they were doing. They just came in and hooked my water and broke it. Didn't say "hey we're gonna do this now." they just did it. 24 hours later when my labor stalled they had to take her by c-section. My husband and I have spoken about the risks and have talked about my past experience. I'm still having so much trouble deciding. Can anyone share their vbac stories, successful or not? I just need something to make notes on. Something to help decide if I'm going to switch providers. TIA.
