Intersex. Time to educate on the third option

An

As I posted yesterday about the gender X headline that was shown for Washington state whom is considering using that option for birth certificates. (That’s exactly how the headline read as gender X)

Now based on the comments I saw tons and tons of outdated views and frankly tons of ignorance to accommodate it. So, to fix it I thought of a great way to do so.

But first let me roll out the definitions everyone has to understand in order to get it right.

Gender-the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones).

Sex-either of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and many other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions.

Some of you may not have known but there is a third option!!

Intersex-Intersex people are born with any of several variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, sex hormones, or genitals that, according to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, "do not fit the typical definitions for male or female bodies".

Now I wanted to help you understand why this is important. Here’s an image of what an intersex child would look like at birth.

Now this is why having the third option for birth certificates so important.

Now for most of these children (babies) at the time of birth sex is changed. Most of them are changed to female. (Which means that if the child has both sets of reproductive organs as shown then the child will end up a girl anyway)

That to me sounds extremely cruel and unusual because why not let the child choose when they are older?

That would make sense to me.

In some instances the parents either change the sex for the child or in worst cases the doctors change it without the parent ever knowing they did. 🤬🤬

But here are more facts to consider.

This isn’t a one in a million thing we are talking about this happens extremely often like you wouldn’t believe.

So with all this info being given I wanted to pose two questions.

If you gave birth to an intersex baby would you allow the child to make a choice as to whom they want or feel they are in the future?

What are your thoughts on parents changing the sex automatically to female for these babies?

Please make sure to read the second to last PowerPoint slide carefully before answering the second question please.
