anyone had a bruised heel before?

Walked in the city for about 9 hours, couldn't walk on it when I got home. Hurt to bad I went to the er. All they wanted to do was an xray. I said no because I didn't think anything was broken. Now, there is no pain a few days later but is so bruised it's almost black. Any insight?
