I’ll try to keep this short as possible..

So my boyfriend bought us a house this past spring, my bf, myself (I’m pregnant with my bf’s baby), my 2 kids and my bf’s 71 yo father live together. The house has needed work, currently we are working on finishing the basement, more specifically the bathroom that will be used only by my bf’s dad (while he is alive and living with us).

Here’s the issue: in this bathroom will be tile, the floor was tiled prior to us buying the house with what I’d call a “peach” colored tile. I took a spare tile that matches the floor to menards and found nice tile to match it for the wall (see photo below). My bf’s dad thinks it should be completely his decision since it’s his bathroom and he choose blue tile! I feel that his dad can choose paint color and things that could be easily changed later, but tile is expensive, difficult to change and should be more neutral to allow for decor changes whenever.

My bf being the sole legal owner of the house is currently siding with his dad only because he hates conflict and his dad bullies him into doing what he wants and my bf says we can change it in the future. But I’m still struggling emotionally to deal with this and it makes me so angry that we are going to have to do all that extra work and pay the extra money in the future. His dad does pay $650 per month for rent, he basically has his own apartment (kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom). If he was renting an apartment he wouldn’t have the option to change the tile.

Anyway, looking for opinions, am I over-reacting, maybe because of my pregnancy hormones and I should let it go? Or would you be pissed too?

The solid color tile is from our floor (already installed) this “concerto” would be my tile if choice for the wall. His dad is choosing a plain blue.
