Pumping at work.. do people interrupt you?

I work at a preschool. I don't pump in the break room during lunch time (12-3), but there's always someone outside the door whining or complaining that I'm in the room. Multiple times, I've stopped in the middle of pumping to let them get what they need, but it's just annoying to me.  Still better than the bathroom, though, which is where I have to pump during lunch.

Ok. No you don’t have to pump in the bathroom nor do you ha e to let them in the break room while you are pumping. Per the law they can not force you to pump in a bathroom (unsanitary) and must provide you with a clean private place to pump. 
I personally work in the ER and I would get so much crap for needing my pumping breaks. I even had my charge nurse (supervisor) tell me “your still breastfeeding your baby? How old is he now” he was 6 months old... I told him “none of your business and per the law you can’t say a word about my need to pump” then I walk off. I will not compromise my child’s source of food bc people want to be pigs. I even had the same charge nurse pull my breast milk from the fridge and let it sit out and spoil.... 40 oz of milk. I was LIVID!

Legally they have to provide you with a private area to pump. That could mean your break room, but again uninterrupted for a designated period of time.  
Talk to your boss. They know the law.  If not, google federal law for breastfeeding.

i work in a p-k as well. staff is 95% women and there is still no official place to pump or even have lunch. most teachers and TAs end up pumping in whatever empty room they can fine. its gotten to the point where,if u open a closest door without knocking you'll find someone. idk what im going to do because i work with special needs kids so for their safety we don't even have closets in my class room (current 36weeks 4days). Most of the other women don't really mind but there are a few that complain (mostly older women,who never had to work when having children) n make it hard for everyone. aren't even enough bathrooms to pump in there😔

I ended up quitting preschool work because there was no way I was going to get a private area to pump (among many other reasons). I worked in a headstart where we didn't have a break room, or even a seperate bathroom for adults, and the shared office foot all 4 teachers and the family services personnel was always open to parents. It didn't even have a door. They should not be interrupting you and you should never have to pump in the bathroom. I'd be bringing it up to HR.
