Can you chew gum before a glucose test?

I’m starving and wanted to know if gum was an okay alternative to keeping me from eating food.

They randomly decided to have me do my glucose test after I went in to my appointment and I ate a hour before I went. They said it was fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess it just depends on your doctor.

i have mine next week and i was told i can eat, but was just told what to avoid in order to not raise my blood sugar.  i was told eat protein, protein, protein and drink water.   no juice, no tea (which broke my heart), no soda

If you have been told to fast, then no, you can’t have gum. Anyway, chewing gum could make you hungrier so wouldn’t be a good choice either.

I was told if you chew gum prior to your test just make sure it’s SUGAR FREE . Thats the only acceptable gum you can have until after your test is done . You don’t want the sugar to interfere with your results .

No, sugar and artificial sugar can raise your blood sugar. But fyi for the 1 hr test, I was allowed to eat
