My fiancé and I have recently been talking a lot about having a baby soon after we get married (no date picked yet) but I currently have the Mirena IUD in place and have had it for almost 2 years now. It wasn’t until this past August (a year and a half after getting it) that it actually finally started to have a more positive affect on my periods, making them lighter but not shorter by any means.

So my question is, now that the hormone seems to actually be working in my body, how long should I expect it to take for it to leave my body and for me to be able to get pregnant? I have read many things with conflicting results, basically saying anywhere from just a few weeks after removal to being a year or more after.

Any other mommas had this implant and have any advice for me? I would like to have it removed before we get married.
