At 9:30am on May 12th at 38 weeks, I felt a sudden pressure and my baby dropped and caused my water to break while in bed.
Contractions started around 10am and I was admitted to the hospital by 11:30am at 3cm.
My contractions lasted for about a minute, and were 2-3 minutes apart. I got an epidural (which I found to be painless) and felt very comfortable for a while.
Looooong story short, I was in active labour for 21 hours. I was on oxytocin for most of it, and the pressure pain of the baby trying to descend was intense! The on call doctor checked me twice, three hours apart, and I hadn't progressed more than 8.5cm; the baby was unable to descend further. Turns out my pelvis is too small to deliver vaginally.
I had to wait 4 hours to finally have a c-section due to an emergency situation with another patient, but
the exhaution and pain was all worth it in the end. Our little guy was born healthy and happy on Wed. May 13th, at 6lbs 4oz.
