what counts as taking a pill late?

I usually take my pill minutes before or after the time I have chosen to take my pill daily - does that affect anything? does taking it an hour after you were supposed to count as late? Also I take the 21 day combined pill and I have never missed a pill so far.

With the combo pill you have a three hour time frame. You can take it up to three hours past your normal time.
