4 month old fake cough??

My son started having squealing coughing fits yesterday. I've looked on YouTube and can't find any 'real' coughs that are remotely similar. He doesn't have a fever, phlegm or any other signs of illness. He hasn't been getting as much attention lately and I'm wondering if he's doing it to get some. It's basically a squeal mixed with a cough and when he does it a few times it must irritate his throat because it brings on an actual coughing fit. He's done it on and off for about 45 mins today. Seeing Dr tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any advice on how to tell if it's true or fake??

Yep, my LO will do it. She knows someone will go “oh, baby! Are you ok!?” And then she smiles and does it again. My first did this also. Kind of annoying but cute at the same time.

My son is 6 months and started doing a similar fake cough around the same time. He still does it, in fact, my fiancé mimics him doing it which only encourages him. I think it's funny & cute most of the time, but only because I can definitely tell the difference between his fake cough & when he has a real cough due to irritation or w/e.

My freakin husband taught mine to fake cough at some point and I nearly strangled him over it cuz he kept encouraging her. 
They can, and do, fake cough.

My sons been doing this since 4 months he’s almost 8 months and still does this
He has coughing fits there obviously fake, fake laugh, squeals, starting to yell
