Prominent bump at back of head?

Question

Does my 9 week old sons head look normal? I feel like there’s a pretty noticeable  bump to his skull at the base right near his neck? He also almost always lays with his head to the side even in the car seat. Rarely will he lay on the back of his head. 
The pediatrician has felt and measured his head and never said anything about it though? Am I just being silly?

If it's an occipital bun (a bulge of thick bone on the occipital bone of the skull) it's totally normal! A little unusual but no problem at all. Ask your pediatrition if you're worried about it.

my baby has a flat apot feom laying on one side. my first did too and it went away. i try to tuen him the oppositebway when possible. i think its all about how they're positioned inside you once they get all squished

It’s totally normal. My daughter had one and it evened out.
I pushed my son out with one push and he has one similar. 
His doc would definitely tell you if there something was to be concerned about.

This may be an an old wives tale from my grandmother but she told me that this happens because while you were pushing you probably stopped and as you did the babies head was there coming out so it kind of stays like a dent. This can go away if you massage the head everyday softly because it’s still very tender it can be almost molded back to normal so don’t worry to much there’s nothing wrong and it’s pretty common. Hope this helps some
